Independent of the specific repair. If the job does any of these, the companion is in play.
- Drains coolantCoolant refill and radiator cap. Thermostat at high mileage.
- Opens the brake hydraulic systemBrake fluid flush.
- Removes a wheel, knuckle, or suspension componentAlignment check.
- Uses one-time fastenersAxle nuts, TTY head bolts, U-bolts, stretch bolts. Order them with the job, not after.
- Replaces one side of a pairStruts, shocks, springs, tie rods, sway bar links, bulbs. Quote both sides.
- High labor overlapTiming belt plus water pump. Clutch plus rear main seal. Evaporator plus heater core. Valve cover plus plugs and coils. Skipping the companion throws away labor the customer already paid for.
